Proud Mother

Yes that's right I am now a proud mother. Of a beautiful Hibiscus plant that is! I first fell in love with Hibiscus flowers when I went to Hawaii oh 7 or so years ago. I unfortunately believed that Hibiscus flowers could only grow in tropical places and so began my depression, then I saw a delightful surprise one day. There was a house in Kaysville that I drove by on my way to Ben Franklin a couple years ago and I noticed  a big beautiful Hibiscus plant. (Last I checked its still there) Well needless to say after that I went on a search for a Hibiscus plant. I discovered that J&J sold them, so I immediately went out and bought one. I was so excited to see it grow but alas it was not to be for it got bugs and died a couple weeks later. Sad I know.  When I came home from school this past May I was determined to see if I could get another one to survive. We took a trip to J&J and I ran straight over to Hibiscus plants and picked out a pretty pink one. I came home and planted it hoping for better luck this time. Now 2 months later my Hibiscus plant is not only still alive but it has tripled in size and yesterday its first flower bloomed. I must say it has completely made my week!

I was expecting the flower to say in the bud/peeking out stage for a few days so I was quite thrilled when I dragged myself up the stairs Monday morning for work and looked out the window to see this staring back at me!

Bear Lake Fun

Last weekend I took a girls trip with my wonderful new friend Natalie. I met her through Carson and I have really enjoyed getting to know her better. I swear she has been an amazing support system in helping me get through this whole "single twin" thing while Carson has been on his mission. We spent the weekend, eating plenty of junk food, watching the first Pirates of the Caribbean and staring at the stars. Poor Carson though, we may have had quite a few laughs at his expense. Natalie and I also had a blast wearing out my dear friends little girl at another friends farewell. Between talking till 3 in the morning and our late night trip to the grocery store in pajamas and sweats it was an adventure filled weekend that I dearly needed. Thanks Natalie for the wonderful weekend,  I'm looking forward to many more fun filled times! Also another update, my lovely friend Anna convinced me to come watch the Bachelorette at her house last night. I hate to say it but I'm sensing a new Monday night tradition for the summer... Thanks Anna.. ;)

The good and the bad

Another post already?? Shocking I know! So as for the subject of this post that would be the good and the bad of SUU. SUU is a great school, I love having small classes where I know my teacher and my classmates and they know me. Some of my classes here are even smaller than my high school classes. Its wonderful. However with small classes comes one small problem. Signing up for classes. When the limit to the class is 25 and you are a sophomore and have to register after all the seniors and juniors you are lucky if you get into some of your classes. So that leaves me here, up past 11 o'clock waiting for midnight to come so I can make sure I get into the English class I need. Seeing as I have class at 8 tomorrow morning that is going to leave one very tired me. Oh well if I get into the class it will be worth it! However when you keep three roommates up way past what they normally stay up you get some interesting stories...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Too bad its April. Well I woke up this morning hoping for a bright sunny spring day but it was snowing. So we pulled out the hot chocolate, Christmas smelling candles and Christmas music. And on top of it all I have a cold so I really feel like it should be January. The good news is that it is actually April and I am down to 2 weeks of school and then my finals week. Yay! Now as for blogging, I know I fail. This past semester has been pretty crazy, my brother Carson left for the MTC on January 18th, He is currently serving in Boise Idaho. His visa came in earlier this week so he will leave for Oaxaca Mexico (I probably spelled that wrong) around the 30th of April.  The rest of the semester's been crazy, classes were crazy, but I'm so excited to be done, I only have one last general to take next semester so then I will be on to all major classes! I'll be going back up to Layton for the summer, I got a job up there working a the Home Builders Association. I'm excited to be going home, and sad at the same time. I'll miss out on things with my roommates down here, but at the same time I will be having a blast with my friends up north who I haven't been with all year! The good news is that I will be back down here next fall, so plenty of new memories are to be made with the rommies! I am seriously hoping that I will be better at blogging, with more friends starting blogs I'm feeling a little more competitive to put up more posts. We shall see how this goes!

Harry Potter!

How better to celebrate 11-11-11 then with Harry Potter? I will just warn you now this will be a long post. I may or may not be slightly very obsessed with Harry Potter. Me and HP go back to 3rd grade when my mother first started reading the books to me and Carson. I remember there was a lot of worrying about the books and the whole witch craft stuff, so when Carson went to read them my mom wouldn't let him read them by himself. And so began a new obsession. At first they were just good books, and then when I reached the 5th one and started reading them on my own they became more interesting. Theorizing with friends began, believing (Spoiler alert) that Dumbledore was not dead, waiting till midnight at Smiths for the 7th book and staying up way to late reading it. Then the books were over. I continued to read them over and over again, and wait for the movies to come out, and then I heard about "The wizarding world of Harry Potter" in Orlando Florida. A year ago tomorrow I had the chance to go there, lets just say thats when my major obsession of HP started. There the books were brought to life, I was standing in Hogwarts, in Hogsmead, surrounded by the shops I had so often read of. I was thrilled! After I came home I had a mere 8 months till the final HP movie would come out. Me and the rest of the class of 2011 were on the count down. by June there were movie count downs playing at multiple houses and I was preparing for the midnight premiere. I carved my own wand (don't make fun of me, you know you are jealous!) and me and my friends made t-shirts for the premiere. I also started in the first week of june re-reading all 7 books. I finished at 11:45,  fifteen mintues before the movie started. I like to cut things close. :) Most of the Layton theaters were filled with Layton High graduates who were there to celebrate the end of HP as we ended our so called childhood. Then the movie was over, though I did see it 3 times that first week... But fear not I would not let Harry die with the movie! So I joined the beta testers in "Pottermore" lets just say its pretty darn cool. I was sorted into Slythering, (strange I know but I have taken a new liking to snakes and the color green) and in my art classes I have created Harry Potter projects. I totally go to college. Harry Potter was there for me all while I grew up, and I guess its just the one thing I don't want to let go. My niece is reading the books now, and it thrills me and I can't wait for the day when my kids will read them. (Okay I can wait for the kids part) I once read a thing that said "We are the Potter generation" and I will always be apart of that. Always.

My lastest art project, I drew a snake around my wand for my drawing class. It was a hit. 

Happy Halloween!!

To celebrate Halloween this year me and my roommates had a pumpkin carving party, I carved Slytherin into mine :) Then last friday me and my roommates attended the institutes Halloween dance. Lets be honest the dance really wasn't all that but getting ready was a blast! katie and I went as pirates, Jandi as an Indian and Emily was a Zombie nurse. After the dance we came back home and watched "The haunting". It was.. well... strange.. but  pretty good. If you are not expecting anything too scary. Which made it a great movie for me! Today is officially halloween and we celebrated it by putting up a christmas tree. Come on you all know that you are jealous! So much fun! It was a bit weird being away from home on Halloween for the first time, I found myself missing my family and even all the trick or treaters who would always interrupt our movie. Or maybe I just miss the free candy I got at home.. it was one of the two. :) Well Happy Halloween to you all! ( and Merry Christmas) 

Blogging...

So... I have had this blog set up since oh August. I'm so on top of things :)  and I am now going to attempt to blog, hopefully I won't fail at it. Here we go!
